Veteran actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik, who played memorable characters like Calendar in Mr India and Pappu Pager in Deewana Mastana, passed away in Delhi on Thursday. Several celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to the actor.
Among them was Neena Gupta. The two actors have shared a deep bond over the years. In her autobiography Sach Kahun Toh, the actress further revealed that Kaushik offered to marry her when she was pregnant while single with Masaba Gupta. “Don't worry, if the baby is born with dark skin, you can say it's mine and we'll get married. No one will suspect anything,” Gupta quoted the actor as saying.
The actress shared the video online and captioned it, 'Goodbye Kaushikan'. Gupta remembers the actor in the video and also prays for strength for his wife and daughter.
The actress' daughter and fashion designer Masaba Gupta also paid tribute to Kaushik on her Instagram. She shared a throwback black and white picture of Kaushik and Gupta and wrote, “Rest in peace, Uncle Kaushik. You gave mom the greatest gift… your kindness all these years… we miss you.” Kaushik died of a heart attack in the early hours of Thursday, March 9.
His actor-friend Anupam Kher announced the news via a tweet and wrote, “I know, 'death is the ultimate truth of this world!'” But I never dreamed that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden end to friendship 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you! Om Shanti!”
He also revealed that Kaushik 'felt uneasy and told the driver to take him to the hospital, and on the way he had a heart attack at around 1 am'. Satish will next be seen posthumously in Kangana Ranaut's Emergency. He will be seen as Jagjivan Ram in the political drama based on the Emergency period of 1975-76 in India when Indira Gandhi was our Prime Minister.
