Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
The district administration booked 9 named and 200 unnamed in their FIR lodged at the Sadar police station for violating Section 144 and blocking Jhanda chowk from the city on Tuesday. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Sadar Circle Officer Rajesh Kumar.
The problem started when the district administration enacted Section 144 and banned the use of traditional weapons and DJ music during muggle processions. But on Tuesday, a sizeable group of youth gathered at Jhanda Chowk and disobeyed the instructions and blocked the chowk while shouting anti-administration chants. A select few akharas also participated in the procession.
Based on the CO's complaint, an FIR was lodged for illegal assembly and blocking the chowk to shout slogans against the administration. Police officials said that despite the orders, 144 was deliberately violated. Those named in this FIR are Shashi Bhushan Kesri, Aman Kumar, Manjit Yadav, Manish Sharma, Kunal Yadav, Sonu Verma, Rajesh Gope, Umesh Gupta and Sonu Verma.
When news of this FIR became public, one of the named accused Shashi Bhushan Kesri called a press conference criticizing the officers for the move.
“First they issued wrong orders to disturb ramanavmi and now this FIR. Any allegations levelled against us are incorrect as we are demonstrating peacefully,” he added.
