A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district early on Saturday, a police officer said.
According to an officer, security forces have launched a cordon and search operation in south Kashmir's Mitrigam area of Pulwama after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists there.
"The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired at the forces which retaliated," the official said. "The exchange of fire was going on, but no casualties have been reported on either side so far," he added.
On March 1, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Awantipora. An army jawan was also killed in the gunfight.
The two slain terrorists, identified as Aqib Mushtaq Bhat and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, were involved in the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit.
