"We expect potato prices to drop starting tomorrow", say authorities
The Central Panchayat and Rural Development and the Ministry of Finance have put a seal on the corruption-ridden government of the state
Suvendu said that the central government has used Article 27 against West Bengal
On Wednesday, Suvendu Adhikari, a senior BJP MLA from West Bengal and Leader of Opposition, made a significant claim regarding the state's finances. Adhikari alleged that the Central Government had imposed an economic embargo on West Bengal due to embezzlement of funds by the state government.
He further stated that the financial allocation from the Center for various schemes, including the 100 days employment guarantee scheme and housing scheme, for the financial year 2023-24 has been halted.
Adhikari claimed that Article 27 had been used against West Bengal, which meant an economic embargo due to large-scale corruption. He alleged that the Central Panchayat and Rural Development and the Ministry of Finance had put a seal on the corruption-ridden government of the state.
The section has been imposed only against the West Bengal government in the entire country, and in the financial year 2023-24, the center will not provide any financial help to the Mamata government.
This move by the Central Government has fueled speculations of the fall of the state government. It is worth noting that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also accused the Center of withholding West Bengal's dues. This development highlights the ongoing political tensions between the Central and West Bengal governments.
