Man held in Begusarai for raping stepdaughter

A man has been arrested for allegedly intimidating and raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter for the past one year in a village in Begusarai district. The accused was arrested on Wednesday after the victim's mother filed an FIR against him at the Begusarai police station.

According to the police, the accused in a drunken state raped the minor girl even on Tuesday evening when she was alone at home. The girl later shared her ordeal with a friend, from whom the villagers came to know about the incident. Angered by the shameful act of the accused, they kept him captive and informed the local police about the incident on Wednesday.

“Based on the information, a police team rushed there and arrested the accused. Later, the minor girl and her mother were taken to Begusarai police station, where a case was registered against the accused under the POCSO Act.

The victim was sent for medical examination after the police recorded her mother's statement, “said Begusarai SP Yogendra Kumar on Thursday. The SP said her mother and maternal grandmother were away from home for the past 10 days as they were engaged in mustard harvesting in the diara areas.
