Kaliaganj rape case: PIL allowed by Calcutta HC, NCPCR challenges police report.

The Calcutta High Court has granted permission to file a public interest litigation (PIL) in the case of the Kekaliyaganj rape and murder of a tribal girl student in North Dinajpur, West Bengal.

The petitioner, Advocate Anindya Sundar Das, has demanded a CBI investigation into the matter and one crore rupees in compensation for the victim's family. The court will hear the case on Tuesday.

The case has caused tension in the area, and section 144 has been imposed in some parts of the district, with police deployed.

The National Child Protection Rights Commission's Chairperson, Priyanka Kanungo, has questioned the police report on the death of a tribal minor girl student in the same district. Kanungo has accused the police of inaction and claimed that it is not correct that the student committed suicide.

Kanungo held a meeting with the District Administrative Officers of North Dinajpur to investigate the matter, including the post-mortem report.

The Superintendent of Police of Raiganj district, Mohammad Sana Akhtar, stated that the preliminary report indicates poisoning, with no injury marks on the body. The family, however, alleges rape and murder.

The case's investigation has reached the court, and the demand for a CBI inquiry into the entire matter has been made. The Kaliyaganj rape case remains ongoing, and the situation is gradually becoming normal.
