Former Bombay Narcotics Control Bureau chief Sameer Wankhede arrived at the CBI office in Mumbai on Saturday to face questioning in the ₹25 crore alleged bribery case related to Aryan Khan's arrest. The Bombay High Court on Friday asked the CBI not to take any coercive action against Wankhede, meaning he cannot be arrested today. Wankhede was accused of demanding ₹25 million from Shah Rukh Khan when his son Aryan Khan was arrested in October 2021 from a cruise.
In the Bombay High Court on Friday, Sameer Wankhede, in his defense, brought up his conversations with Shah Rukh Khan, where Shah Rukh praised Wankhede's integrity while asking Wankhede to be kind to an Aryan.
Sameer Wankhede has been accused of several irregularities in the NCB vigilance probe. There was no match between his income and expenses and he understated his foreign travel expenses; made a dubious deal for a valuable watch; and demanded a bribe of ₹25 million from Shah Rukh Khan not to press charges against Aryan Khan. The bribe was made through KP Gosavi, who was given a free hand in the Aryan Khan case and appeared to be an NCB insider.
Sameer Wankhede denied the allegations and said that the CBI filed an FIR against him only because he had complained against NCB Deputy Director Gjaneshwar Singh for making caste comments.
