Roopa Ganguly arrested during protest of student's death in Bansdroni, gets bail
BJP legislature party chief and former CM Babulal Marandi today announced that if his party comes to power in the upcoming assembly elections, it will prepare a mini-NRC for Santhal Pargana to ascertain how many people have settled here from Bangladesh.
Before leaving for Sahibganj, Marandi was addressing media persons at Pakur Circuit House.
The BJP leader said that the matter related to the encroachment is before the Jharkhand High Court and the court has issued notices to the central and state governments in this regard, expressing its concern over the matter.
He said that in 1990, the then deputy commissioner of Sahibganj identified Bangladeshi residents but nothing happened after that and encroachment is being encouraged and demographics are changing.
On the occasion, he informed the media that his party will start a month-long exercise on May 30 to let people know what BJP has done for them. He said that it is the result of the Modi government that the people of the country are getting gas connections without delay and the poor are getting free houses.
