The scorching heat wave continues to grip Kolkata and the wider region of South Bengal as temperatures once again reached close to 40 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department reported that the maximum temperature in Kolkata soared to 38.6 degrees Celsius, surpassing the normal average by three degrees Celsius. The mercury is expected to hover around 39 to 40 degrees Celsius throughout the day, making for extremely hot conditions. Even the minimum temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius stands three degrees Celsius above normal.

The persistent heat wave has left residents of Kolkata seeking refuge from the sweltering weather.
