A close shave for passengers on board an Air India flight on Monday. The plane carrying 140 passengers made an emergency landing at Dabok Airport in Udaipur.
According to initial information, the passenger's mobile phone battery exploded in the air. After a thorough technical check, the flight left for Delhi.
The incident left passengers in a state of anxiety. It is also said that some travelers even got off the plane after the plane made an emergency landing in Udaipur. A thorough search of the aircraft was also conducted and when the items were found at the site, the flight was cleared to depart for its destination – Delhi.
The incident took place on Air India flight number 470, according to the report. The flight was scheduled for Delhi at 1:00 am from Udaipur.
The explosion occurred immediately after takeoff. The sound of the explosion was apparently so loud that it caused unrest among the passengers. That's when crew members on board the flight took command and prepared the passengers for an emergency landing.
Last month, an Air Indian flight - flying from Delhi to San Francisco - made an emergency landing in Magadan, Russia due to engine failure.
There were reportedly 216 passengers and 16 crew members on the flight. When the problem was found, the plane landed safely.
According to an official statement from the airline, flight AI173 from Delhi was diverted to Magadan following an engine problem.
