The much-awaited monsoon session of the West Bengal state assembly has received the approval from Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose. The session is now set to commence on July 24, following discussions between Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee and State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shobhan Dev Chattopadhyay with the Governor.
Sources reveal that a detailed discussion took place on July 21 to address any hindrances to the monsoon session. Chattopadhyay expressed his willingness to personally communicate with the Governor. Raj Bhavan sources clarify that the Governor's intention was not to halt the session but to inquire about the short notice for its start.
In response, Chattopadhyay highlighted the urgency of passing several essential bills, leading the state government to decide on an immediate start for the assembly session. On Saturday afternoon, the Governor granted permission for the monsoon session of the Vidhansabha, which is now scheduled to commence from Monday.
