Trinamool leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien detained during Day 2 of Delhi protest
In a significant development on Saturday evening, East Champaran authorities apprehended two Chinese nationals, identified as Zhao Jing and Fu Cong, residents of Jiangxi province in eastern China. The individuals were arrested near the Indian customs office in Raxaul town at approximately 8:45 pm while attempting to cross the border without valid documentation.
As per the statement provided by East Champaran Superintendent of Police (SP) Kantesh Kumar Mishra, the motive behind their unauthorized entry into Indian territory remains unclear, and the investigation is still underway.
However, immigration officials stationed at the border have not ruled out the possibility of espionage as a potential reason for their illegal movement into Indian territory from across the border. During the interrogation process, both Zhao Jing and Fu Cong displayed unusual behavior, and their statements were found to be inconsistent and contradictory, according to an immigration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The incident has raised concerns, given the sensitive nature of border security and India's vigilance regarding potential security threats. Authorities are actively probing further to determine the intentions and objectives of the arrested individuals.
As the situation develops, officials are closely monitoring the case and ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to maintain the integrity and security of the nation's borders. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available during the ongoing investigation.
