The excitement for the upcoming match between the cricket teams of India and Pakistan at the ICC World Cup 2023 has resulted in skyrocketing ticket costs. Primary ticket sales outlets witnessed an astounding sellout within a mere one hour on two specific dates: August 29 and September 3.
However, the secondary ticket market is experiencing an unprecedented surge in demand, driving prices to staggering heights. For instance, a ticket in the South Premium East 3 section is currently listed at an astonishing ₹21 lakh on Viagogo, a prominent online sports ticket platform. Only two upper-tier tickets with unobstructed views remain, each commanding an eye-watering ₹57 lakh.
These exorbitant prices have sparked strong reactions on social media platforms.
"What is happening? World Cup tickets for India vs. Pakistan range from ₹65,000 to ₹4.5 lakh 'per ticket' on the Viagogo website! Daylight robbery from these corporations!," exclaimed one user.
