In the Dumri Assembly seat by-election in Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)'s Bebi Devi emerged victorious with a significant lead of over 17,000 votes, defeating NDA candidate Yashoda Devi. The by-election, necessitated by the untimely demise of JMM MLA Jagarnath Mahto, who also served as the state's Education Minister, took place on September 5th. Mahto had been representing the Dumri seat since 2004.

The election witnessed active participation from the electorate, with 64.84 percent of the total 2.98 lakh eligible voters exercising their right to vote.
