Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
Telegu Desam Party (TDP) workers across Andhra Pradesh took to the streets in a state-wide protest following the arrest and subsequent judicial custody of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in connection with an alleged corruption case. The protests escalated into violence in some areas, resulting in the burning of tires, destruction of public property, and disruptions to daily life.
Visuals from various parts of the state depicted angry demonstrators hurling slogans against the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government. Some TDP workers staged sit-ins on roads, impeding traffic flow, while others reportedly pelted stones at state-run buses. Law enforcement authorities have been actively working to maintain order, with several party leaders and workers detained as a preventive measure.
The agitation extended to Tirupati and West Godavari districts, where residents expressed their discontent over Chandrababu Naidu's arrest and subsequent judicial custody. The protests have disrupted normalcy in the state, causing concern for law enforcement agencies.
Naidu's arrest was initiated by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday in connection with an alleged corruption case. Subsequently, he was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, with his release scheduled for September 23, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada, specifically related to the alleged Skill Development Corporation scam.
