Trinamool leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien detained during Day 2 of Delhi protest
Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has ventured into entrepreneurship by announcing plans to establish a steel plant in Salboni, West Midnapore, in collaboration with a friend. The project, which has already received government clearances, is set to involve an initial investment of Rs 2,500 crore and is expected to generate employment opportunities for approximately 6,000 individuals.
The project has already received necessary clearances from the government, a fact acknowledged by Ganguly, who expressed gratitude to Chief Secretary H.K. Dwivedi and Industry Secretary Vandana Yadav. The construction of the steel plant is scheduled to be completed within six months. This announcement was made during an event in Madrid, Spain, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was seeking Spanish investments for West Bengal and inviting businesspersons to participate in the Bengal Global Business Summit.
In response to Ganguly's announcement, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari made a taunting comment highlighting the geographical disparity between Ganguly's residence and the location of the steel plant, saying,"house in Behala, factory in Mednipur and announcement from Spain."
