Kolkata bus owners seek relaxation of rules for 15-year-old buses, file petition in High Court
In a surprising move, the AIADMK has officially terminated its alliance with the BJP in Tamil Nadu. The decision comes following controversial comments made by the state BJP chief, K Annamalai, on the late CN Annadurai, the mentor of AIADMK founder MGR. The AIADMK leaders expressed strong displeasure, citing that Annamalai's comments were disrespectful to their party's legacy.
Senior AIADMK leader D Jayakumar said "we will decide on the alliance before the election."
Jayakumar accused Annamalai of seeking self-promotion by criticizing late AIADMK leaders and highlighted that the party's workers would not tolerate any disrespect toward their late chief minister, J Jayalalithaa.
"Annamalai doesn't desire alliance with AIADMK although BJP workers want it. Should we tolerate all this criticism of our leaders? Why should we carry you? The BJP can't set foot here. Your vote bank is known. You are known because of us," the former minister told reporters. "We can't tolerate any more (the criticism of leaders)," he said.
