Durgapur: Massive fire engulfs Asansol Durgapur Development Board Office, watch video

A major fire incident shook Durgapur, West Bengal, as flames engulfed the office of the Asansol Durgapur Development Board (ADDA) in the city center complex. Panic spread as onlookers witnessed the raging fire, prompting a swift response from firefighting teams. Approximately 10-12 fire engines from Durgapur and surrounding areas were dispatched to combat the blaze, but they faced significant challenges in controlling the inferno.

The incident unfolded around 2:10 am when security personnel on duty at the office noticed smoke emerging from a restroom. Within moments, the fire rapidly spread throughout the building. The Durgapur fire department was immediately alerted to the situation. In response, officials, workers, and the ADDA Chairman, along with the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Durgapur and local police, rushed to the scene. Despite these efforts, the fire's intensity continued to escalate.

To gain control over the escalating blaze, additional fire engines were summoned from Panagarh, Raniganj, and even Andal airport. By 5:30 am, the fire's intensity had diminished, but full containment had not been achieved. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and the extent of the damage is difficult to estimate. However, significant and valuable documents were tragically reduced to ashes in the devastating incident.
