Jr Doctors to end 42-day long strike, will partially resume work from Saturday
The two-day strike organized by the Trinamool Congress in Delhi to demand the release of MNREGA funds for West Bengal concluded on October 3. Approximately 2,500 MNREGA workers, including Trinamool representatives, left for West Bengal after the strike's conclusion.
CM Mamata Banerjee expressed her discontent over the detention of Abhishek Banerjee and other party leaders during the strike, labeling it as a dark day for democracy.
The situation unfolded when a TMC delegation, led by Abhishek Banerjee, sought to meet the Minister of State for Rural Development at Krishi Bhawan in Delhi. After failing to secure the meeting, they staged a protest, prompting the police to detain them and transport them to Mukherjee Nagar police station.
Abhishek Banerjee and others were released after spending approximately two hours in custody. In response, Mamata Banerjee voiced her concerns on social media, highlighting the perceived mistreatment of West Bengal's poor and the disregard for democratic values.
