Guv calls Mamata 'Lady Macbeth of Bengal', says will socially boycott her
The Central Enforcement Directorate (ED) is set to interrogate Rujira Banerjee, the wife of Abhishek Banerjee, in connection with the high-profile teacher appointment corruption case in West Bengal. Last week, a notice was issued to Rujira Banerjee, requiring her presence for questioning at the central agency's office located at the CGO Complex on October 11.
It remains uncertain whether Rujira Banerjee will appear in person, but sources suggest that documents relevant to the investigation may be submitted on her behalf. The corruption case centers around funds that were allegedly funneled through a company named Leaps and Bounds, with directors including Abhishek Banerjee and members of his family. The ED had previously gathered documents from Abhishek and his parents, and now, the agency has extended the investigation to include his wife.
This development comes after information about the company Leaps and Bounds was brought to light during the interrogation of Kaku, also known as Sujay Krishna Bhadra of Kalighat, who was arrested in connection with the teacher appointment corruption case. As central agencies intensify their efforts, notices continue to be issued to Abhishek Banerjee, who is Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew. However, the court has clarified that documents submitted by Abhishek should be thoroughly examined before resorting to questioning, emphasizing the need for a diligent and systematic approach to the case.
