A tragic car accident in Giridih district, Jharkhand, claimed the lives of at least five people and left five others seriously injured, including two children. The incident occurred in Baghmara, within the Mufassil police station's jurisdiction, around 3 am on Saturday. The victims, who had attended a wedding function at Tikodih, around 40 km away, were returning to Thoria village in the Birni police station area when their speeding car rammed into a roadside tree.
Giridih Sadar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anil Singh reported that the five deceased individuals died on the spot, and the injured have been admitted to a hospital. Initial investigations suggest that the driver might have dozed off during the early morning return journey.
Kamlesh Paswan, the station in-charge at Mufassil police station, Giridih, stated that the injured individuals are receiving medical attention in the hospital.
