Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar revokes AAP MP Raghav Chadha's suspension

The suspension of  (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha from the Rajya Sabha has been revoked by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. The decision was made following a motion moved by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP GVL Narasimha Rao during a Privileges Committee meeting held in Parliament.

Chadha was initially suspended from the Upper House on August 11 for a "breach of privilege" during the Monsoon Session, based on allegations that Chadha did not obtain consent from five Rajya Sabha MPs before including their names in the select committee for considering the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2023. Since then, he was under scrutiny for allegedly forging the signatures of five MPs.

MP Raghav Chadha's suspension was set to continue until the Privilege Committee submitted its findings on the allegations against him. Chadha challenged his suspension in the Supreme Court, claiming it to be "patently illegal" and lacking the authority of the law. The AAP leader argued against the indefinite suspension, contending that it was an unjust action.

The motion for Chadha's suspension was moved by Leader of the House Piyush Goyal, who sought action against the AAP leader.
