The lifeless body of a 17-year-old girl, identified as Sangeeta Burman, was discovered hanging from a noose in the Abhiram Jyot area of Bagdogra on Tuesday. Sangeeta, a ninth-grade student, had reportedly left her home late on Monday evening following a family dispute. Concerned family members conducted a night-long search but were unable to locate her.
Local residents stumbled upon Sangeeta's hanging body on Tuesday morning and promptly alerted the Bagdogra police. Responding to the information, the police arrived at the scene, recovered the deceased's body, and subsequently dispatched it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigations by the Bagdogra police station are underway to determine the circumstances leading to Sangeeta's tragic demise.
