Ninety-seven employees at the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) experienced a deduction in their day's pay due to tardiness, as revealed by officials. Municipal Commissioner Inderjeet Singh personally monitored attendance at around 10:30 am on November 29, discovering that 97 individuals, including two officers, had failed to sign in by the designated time.
Despite being allowed to provide explanations for their late arrivals, the employees' responses were deemed unsatisfactory by officials. Commissioner Singh emphasized the LMC's commitment to punctuality, particularly for those directly interacting with the public, stating that delays inconveniencing citizens would not be tolerated.
The scrutiny of timely arrivals now extends across all zones of the LMC, with Commissioner Singh identifying a recurring issue in the accounts department. Officials noted that a significant number of staff members in this department had developed a pattern of late arrivals.
Furthermore, employees in the establishment and engineering departments of zone one, as well as those assigned to the mayor's office, were notably absent from their workstations by 10:30 am on the specified date. Commissioner Singh underscored the importance of prompt attendance, especially for departments engaged in direct public service, emphasizing the municipality's dedication to efficient and timely service delivery.
