US intercepts Houthis' 23rd attack: Shoots down anti-ship missiles in Red Sea

In the latest escalation of maritime tensions, the US successfully intercepted two anti-ship ballistic missiles launched by Houthi rebels in response to an attack on the Singapore-flagged, Denmark-owned container ship, Maersk Hangzhou, in the Southern Red Sea.

The incident unfolded when the vessel reported being struck by a missile at 8:30 p.m. Sanaa time. Swiftly responding to the distress call, the US Central Command engaged and neutralized the incoming missiles launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the ship's crew.

This marks the 23rd attack by the Houthi rebels on international shipping since November 19, prompting the formation of a maritime task force comprising the US and several other nations to address the growing security concerns in the Red Sea.
