More than 3.5 crore pilgrims take holy bath during Amrit Snan at Mahakumbh
The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to the Lok Sabha secretary general in response to Trinamool leader Mahua Moitra's petition challenging her expulsion from the House.
While the court has sought a reply within three weeks, it has denied Moitra permission to participate in Lok Sabha proceedings following her expulsion last month.
The SC has directed the Lok Sabha secretary general to respond to Mahua Moitra's petition against her expulsion from the House. This move signifies the court's intervention in the matter and raises questions about the legality and procedural aspects surrounding Moitra's removal. Despite issuing a notice, the Supreme Court has refrained from allowing Mahua Moitra to participate in Lok Sabha proceedings during the ongoing legal process. Moitra was expelled from the House after an ethics panel found her guilty of sharing her parliamentary login details with businessman Darshan Hiranandani in what she claims was a non-corrupt exchange for assistance in typing out her queries on the Lok Sabha portal.
Mahua Moitra, in response to her expulsion, moved the SC, asserting that the ethics panel lacked the authority to expel her. She vehemently denied any exchange of bribes and highlighted the absence of evidence supporting such claims.
