Meerut Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called on intellectuals to contribute towards creating a trillion dollar economy. Interacting with intellectuals during his visit to Saharanpur on Sunday, Yogi said that there are endless investment opportunities in every sector in the state. The best industrial, bio-fuel, textile and other sectoral policies in the country were found in Uttar Pradesh. He shared that the Global Investors Summit will be held in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 to 12 next year and invited businessmen and business owners of Saharanpur to attend and invest in the growth and development of the state.

Addressing the 'gathering of intellectuals', the CM said, “Saharanpur used to be referred to as 'semant zila' (outlying district). It borders Uttarakhand on one side and Haryana on the other. The woodcraft of this district has gained worldwide recognition. Saharanpur has unlimited potential that needs to be realised.” The CM said that though there was no alternative to growth, people chose the BJP government and its leaders in UP for security and development. “People are not moving now, but because of the achievement of the 'ease of doing business' goal. Uttar Pradesh is getting investments from all over the world,” said Yogi.

Inaugurating 243 development projects worth Rs 145 crore in Saharanpur, the Chief Minister said, “Security is our top priority. The politics of those who were in power before the BJP regime fell victim to 'parivarwad' and corruption. A state where 'hooliganism' was at its peak, people migrated and communal clashes took place every 3-4 days has become riot free today.  The CM added that under previous governments, crime was so rampant that no one wanted to visit the state and those who invested migrated. Investors are now returning to UP with the restoration of law and order in the state, he said. Criminals were currently on the run from UP and the government was working to eradicate all forms of crime, criminals and corruption, Yogi pointed out.

During the event, the CM also watched a short film on the work of the Urban Development and Industrial Development Department and handed over keys, checks and acceptance certificates to the beneficiaries of various schemes. Yogi said road connectivity has improved significantly. Before 2017, it took two hours to travel from Saharanpur to Muzaffarnagar. The Saharanpur to Shamli and Dehradun route was in poor condition. However, Rs 753 million was spent on improving roads from Saharanpur to Muzaffarnagar. Instead of two hours, it now took 45 minutes to travel that distance, he added.

The CM further said that the Saharanpur – Dehradun route, which was being constructed at a cost of about Rs 1,200 crore, would be one of the best in the country.
