Kolkata bus owners seek relaxation of rules for 15-year-old buses, file petition in High Court
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has pointed fingers at RSS for the unrest in the violence-stricken Sandeshkhali village, claiming that there were hidden motives during Saraswati Puja. Mamata Banerjee stated that the RSS has a presence in the area, highlighting past riots and characterizing it as a vulnerable spot. Asserting her administration's strong handling of the situation during Saraswati Puja, she hinted at undisclosed plans.
In response to the turmoil in Sandeshkhali, Banerjee emphasized her commitment to justice, outlining measures taken, including arrests and the dispatch of a women's police team to address grievances. The Sandeshkhali village in West Bengal has been embroiled in a political storm for nearly a month, sparked by an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh's residence in connection to a ration distribution scam.
“RSS has a base there. Riots took place there 7-8 years back. It is one of the vulnerable riot spots. We handled the situation strongly during Saraswati Puja or else there were other plans. I have never supported injustice," said WB CM on Sandeshkhali issue.
The aftermath witnessed allegations of land grabbing, torture, and sexual harassment by Shajahan and associates, leading to protests by women demanding arrests. The situation escalated with the burning of poultry farms, triggering a political blame game. Mamata Banerjee's accusations against the RSS add a new dimension to the ongoing controversy.
