Biswanath Roy, a resident of Amtala, allegedly went "missing" after he was admitted to the city's SSKM hospital on Saturday. He was supposed to undergo a hernia surgery. But, after two days of admission, the patient's family reach the hospital to visit him but couldn't find Roy in his bed. Patient's family members informed the nurses on duty.
A search began in the entire ward. But the search for Bishwanath was nowhere to be found. The family claimed that the mobile phone that the patient had was switched off. They immediately informed the hospital authorities. After discussion, the hospital has put the onus on the family as to why the family members did not take care of their patient. The family claimed that the hospital checked the CCTV footage a day after the disappearance and it can be seen that patient has left the main gate of the hospital on his own.
A police complaint was then in process. According to the patient's family, Bhowanipore police station did not agree to take the complaint. Later i.e. on 22nd took a missing complaint at the police station. However, it is reported that the patient has not been found yet.
