Ameen Sayani, the esteemed former radio announcer celebrated for his iconic show Binaca Geetmala, breathed his last on Tuesday in Mumbai at the age of 91. The news was confirmed by his son Rajil Sayani. Stating that Sayani Sr. succumbed to a heart attack. He further revealed that despite immediate medical attention at HN Reliance Hospital, Mumbai, Sayani's life couldn't be saved. The funeral arrangements are set for Thursday, with the family awaiting the arrival of relatives in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Ameen Sayani, born on December 21, 1932, in Mumbai, carved an indelible mark in the hearts of listeners with his signature introduction, "Namaskar bhaiyon aur behno, main aapka dost Ameen Sayani bol raha hoon." His illustrious career spanned over 42 years, primarily hosting Binaca Geetmala, a show that gained immense popularity since its inception in 1952, broadcasted on Radio Ceylon and later on Vividh Bharati (AIR).

Sayani's contribution to the radio industry extends beyond hosting, having produced, compiled, or spoken for over 54,000 radio programs and 19,000 spots/jingles since 1951. Additionally, he graced the silver screen in various films like Bhoot Bungla, Teen Devian, Boxer, and Qatl, portraying the role of an announcer in pivotal events. Tributes have flooded social media, acknowledging Sayani's role in popularizing All India Radio and expressing gratitude for his contribution to music and memories.
