"We expect potato prices to drop starting tomorrow", say authorities
Amidst ongoing allegations and counter-allegations, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused authorities of deactivating Aadhaar cards in West Bengal, linking the move to preparations for the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
Fueling the controversy, a family residing in Malda received distressing letters from the post office, informing them of the deactivation of their Aadhaar cards due to purportedly insufficient documentation. Despite declining to appear on camera, the family conveyed their fear and apprehension through email, highlighting the unsettling nature of the situation.
The letters, allegedly dispatched from the Unique Identification Authority of India's Ranchi regional office, have intensified concerns among affected families, who now grapple with uncertainty regarding their identification documents' validity and the underlying reasons behind the deactivations.
