The issue of allegedly calling Sikh IPS officer Jaspreet Singh a Khalistani is hot topic in Sandeshkhali. On Tuesday, in the debate that took place when Leader of Opposition Subhendu Adhikari was stopped by the police in Sandeshkhali, a BJP leader had allegedly called him a Khalistani. After which this matter is gaining momentum. Demonstrations are also being held by the Sikh community at many places in the state.
Meanwhile, a rally was held by West Bengal INTUC Seva Dal in Baubazar. In the rally, a person posing as the symbol of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was seen protesting against the use of objectionable words against the Sikh community. He says that the Sikh community has been insulted by such words. The protesters say that calling a Sikh IPS officer Khalistani is an insult to the Sikh community.
He said that BJP is a communal party that instigates emotions. Elections are about to come, and that is why BJP is raising such religious issues. Today we have come here by making a symbol of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh so that we can show that Sikhs are not terrorists but social workers... The demand of the protesters through this demonstration is that Suvendu Adhikari should apologize and strict action should be taken against him.
