The Delhi High Court, in a recent ruling, dismissed the plea of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra, seeking to prevent the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from leaking confidential information to the media regarding a FEMA contravention case. The court stated that leakages pose challenges for public figures.
Justice Subramonium Prasad, while delivering the order on Friday, simply stated, "Dismissed," in response to Moitra's plea.
Moitra's petition contended that the ED had leaked details of FEMA summons and her preliminary response, instead of conducting a fair and transparent investigation into the alleged violations.
During the hearing, the court noted that news reports, although factual, presented Moitra with the challenge of facing both media scrutiny and enforcement agencies as a public figure.
