As the Samyukt Kisan Morcha gears up for a Kisan Mahapanchayat at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi today, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a cautionary advisory due to potential traffic disruptions across Delhi-NCR. With farmers flocking from Punjab and Haryana to participate in the Mahapanchayat, the Delhi Police has initiated vehicle checks at Kundli and Singhu borders to facilitate their entry into the capital. Despite efforts to maintain traffic flow, severe congestion has been reported at the Kundli border, prompting diversions along multiple routes.
In anticipation of the Mahapanchayat's turnout, estimated at 5,000 attendees, stringent security measures have been enacted, with Delhi Police overseeing the entry process for farmers' vehicles. Deputy Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar assured organized movement assistance, highlighting the deployment of additional police forces to ensure orderliness. However, the influx of vehicles has led to significant delays at the Kundli border, emphasizing the logistical challenges posed by the concurrent events.
