Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
Sunil Chhetri, India's most decorated footballer, has announced his retirement from international football. Chhetri, 39, made the announcement via a video on social media platform X, stating that India's upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifier game against Kuwait in Kolkata on June 6 will be his last.
Reflecting on his career, Chhetri said, "The recollection of the last 19 years is a combination of duty, pressure, and immense joy. I never thought I would play so many games for the country, but now I did, especially in the last one and a half to two months. This feeling was very strange. I was probably going towards the decision that this game (against Kuwait) is going to be my last."
Sunil Chhetri, synonymous with Indian football, has had a glittering career spanning over two decades. His journey began in 2002 with Mohun Bagan, and he has since become a legend in the sport.
