The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the liquor policy case. The CBI presented Kejriwal in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, stating that they could have conducted this exercise before the Lok Sabha elections but chose not to.
The CBI examined the AAP leader in Tihar Jail on Tuesday and recorded his statement related to the Excise Policy case.
Kejriwal's lawyer, Vikarm Chaudhari, claimed that Kejriwal's arrest violated Section 41 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
Following his arrest, Kejriwal withdrew the petition filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court's order, which stayed his bail in the money laundering case.
