Noida bank executive dies by suicide after alleging harassment by colleagues

A 27-year-old bank executive, Shivani Gupta, from Noida, ended her life by allegedly consuming poison after receiving a termination email from her office. Gupta, who had been working as a relationship officer at Axis Bank in Sector 128 since last October, left behind a five-page suicide note detailing continuous harassment by her colleagues. She accused six colleagues of mental and physical abuse, stating they used offensive language and physically attacked her. The note mentioned a female colleague who frequently argued with her and mocked her with derogatory names like "bandariya" (monkey) and "dimag se pagal" (mad).

Two specific incidents were highlighted in the note. On June 29, colleagues reacted abusively when she asked them to clean up after lunch near her workstation. On July 9, a confrontation with the same colleague escalated to physical violence, and despite reporting the incident, her seniors sided against her. Gupta did not inform her family about these incidents to avoid worrying them. Her brother, Gaurav, has filed a complaint against her colleagues, and Axis Bank has assured full cooperation with the investigation. "We have submitted the note to handwriting experts to verify its authenticity. Statements from her colleagues will also be recorded," said Nandgram ACP Ravi Kumar Singh.
