Local Trinamool leaders have been accused of taking a BJP leader to the TMC office at gunpoint and beating him up in Kharakpur village of Nasuka (1) Gram Panchayat under the Ghatal block of the West Midnapore district. However, the Trinamool Congress has rejected the allegations.
It is alleged that on Thursday evening, local BJP Panchayat member Subhash Mandal had gone to the field near his house. Then some Trinamool leaders took him to the Trinamool Party office in Khasbar with a pistol on his waist and beat him up badly. He was allegedly made to sign a paper on which it was written that they had taken lakhs of rupees in the name of getting a job.
The victim BJP Panchayat member is admitted to Ghatal Mahakama Super Specialty Hospital. He has accused six Trinamool leaders of the area and demanded strict punishment for them. He said that some Trinamool leaders including Ganga Karak beat him up. Subhash Mandal said that BJP Panchayat members are being pressured to join Trinamool.
However, Ghatal Trinamool leader Vikas Kar has denied all the allegations of BJP Panchayat members. He claims that these allegations have no basis.
The Trinamool-run Mansuka (1) Gram Panchayat has 15 seats. Out of these, 4 seats are with the BJP. The remaining 11 seats are with the Trinamool Congress. However, a few days ago, a panchayat member of the BJP joined the Trinamool. Currently, out of the 15 seats in the Gram Panchayat, 12 are with the Trinamool and 3 with the BJP.
