Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the construction of the Shinkun La tunnel, which aims to provide all-weather connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Ladakh. The "first blast" for the tunnel construction was carried out remotely by PM Modi from Drass, Ladakh.

In a poignant tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the 1999 Kargil War, PM Modi emphasized Pakistan's continued harboring of terrorists despite facing multiple defeats.
"Pakistan faced defeat whenever it has carried out any misadventure. It has not learned any lessons from history," PM Modi remarked at the Kargil War memorial.
The Prime Minister honored the valor and sacrifice of the Indian soldiers, stating that their contributions to the nation are immortal and will forever be remembered through Kargil Vijay Diwas.
