Jr doctors vs Mamata: Meeting over, press conference at Swasthya Bhawan to commence soon
The Calcutta High Court on Friday ruled that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee can make statements about Governor CV Anand Bose, provided they adhere to legal guidelines and are not derogatory.
This decision came after Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh appealed against an interim order by a single bench that restricted them from making derogatory or false statements against the governor.
Justice IP Mukherjee modified the previous order, permitting Banerjee and Ghosh to make statements about the governor within the bounds of the law and ensuring they are not derogatory. This modification follows a defamation suit filed by Governor Bose.
The initial interim order by Justice Krishna Rao of the single bench had barred Banerjee, Ghosh, and two newly-elected TMC MLAs from making any derogatory or false statements about the governor until August 14.
