In a swift operation, Howrah city police recovered stolen goods and arrested four robbers within twelve hours of the robbery. According to police sources, a gang of ten to twelve robbers attacked a godown in Jalan Complex in Domjur late on July 27.
They overpowered the sole security guard, broke the lock, and entered the godown with a car and a bike. The robbers then took four tons of expensive zinc metal bars and removed the CCTV storage device DVR before fleeing. Domjur police station officers arrived at the scene that night and began investigating the incident with detectives from Howrah City Police.
CCTV footage from nearby roads helped identify the car used in the robbery. Upon questioning the car owner, Avinash Singh of Malipanchghara police station, the police learned he had rented the car to Subrata Sen alias Chhotaka on July 27. Chhotaka, along with his partner Vishal Kumar Sau, planned the robbery.
The car owner was driving the car during the robbery, and Bikash Kumar Jaiswal loaded the stolen goods. The robbers sold the loot to a businessman named Rakesh Kumar Sau. Police raided his godown yesterday and recovered all the stolen goods.
The initial investigation revealed the direct involvement of six people in the robbery. The search for the remaining suspects continues. Domjur police have registered a case against the accused under multiple categories of robbery. The four arrested, including the car owner, will be produced in Howrah court today.
