Who is getting 'Desh Ka Halwa'? Rahul Gandhi slams budget in Parliament

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a fierce attack against the Centre over the Union Budget 2024, displaying a poster of the traditional ‘Halwa ceremony’ held at the Ministry of Finance before the Budget session. He claimed that, despite their contributions to the Budget, there was not a single OBC, tribal, or Dalit officer present in the photo.

Addressing the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said, “Budget ka halwa' is being distributed in this photo. I can't see one OBC or tribal or a Dalit officer in this. Desh ka halwa bant raha hai aur 73% hai hi nahi. 20 officers prepared the Budget of India...Hindustan ka halwa 20 logon ne baatne ka kaam kiya hai…”

Rahul Gandhi said that youth have been trapped in Agniveer 'chakravyuh', adding that there is no provisions in budget for pension for Agniveers. He also touched upon the burning issue of NEET paper leaks. "Paper leak was not spoken of by FM Sitharaman. The youth feels this is the most imp issue but was not addressed even once. The education budget money is now at 20-year low, at 2.5% of GDP."
