Trainee cop dismissed, arrested in Noida for assault and robbery

In a decisive move, Noida Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh has taken strict action against those involved in the assault and robbery of a cab driver. After a thorough investigation, trainee sub-inspector Amit Mishra has been arrested and dismissed from service.

In a related development, Shakti Mohan Awasthi has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone), replacing Suniti. Additionally, Inspector Arvind Kumar, Bisrakh police station in-charge, Gaur City outpost in-charge Ramesh Chandra, and sub-inspector Mohit have been suspended for negligence.

On the night of August 2, around 1 am, cab driver Rakesh Tomar from Barot in Baghpat was assaulted and robbed of Rs. 7,000 in Noida's Gaur City. Rakesh had just dropped off a female passenger from Panchsheel Vihar, Delhi, when five individuals, including a policeman in uniform, abducted him and his passenger, taking them to a deserted location where they robbed him. They later returned Rs. 500 for his expenses before releasing him.

Following Rakesh's complaint to the police control room, authorities reviewed CCTV footage and identified the policeman in uniform as trainee sub-inspector Amit Mishra from Gaur City 1. Despite attempts by the Gaur City police post in-charge to resolve the matter quietly, Mishra refused to return the stolen money. Rakesh escalated the matter to the Police Commissioner, leading to the arrest and dismissal of Mishra.
