In a significant crackdown, the Newtown police raided a fake call center operating from a guest house in Newtown BD Block, detaining 26 individuals, including a young woman. The raid was conducted following reports that a group of young men and women, residing in the guest house, had been engaging in suspicious activities for several days.
Acting on this information, the police launched an investigation, culminating in a late-night raid on the premises. The detainees, upon interrogation, revealed that they were employed by a call center located in Sector 5. It was discovered that the call center was involved in defrauding foreign nationals by offering bogus software support and loans.
The entire guest house had been rented out to accommodate the employees of this fraudulent operation. The police are now intensifying their search for the ringleader behind this scam, often referred to as the mastermind of the gang.
