On Thursday, opposition leaders protested on Parliament premises, calling for implementing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers' crops and justice for them. MPs from several parties, including the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharadchandra Pawar, and Shiv Sena (UBT), participated in the demonstration.
The protest took place on the steps leading to the Makar Dwar of Parliament, where the MPs donned garlands made of onions and chanted slogans such as "Kisan ko phasal pe MSP do" (Give MSP on crops to farmers) and "Kisan pe anyay bandh karo" (Stop injustice against farmers).
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the BJP for providing MSP support to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), asserting that similar support should be extended to farmers. She also urged the government to lift the export ban on onions affecting Maharashtra's farmers, citing numerous requests to the Centre without any response.
The protesting MPs emphasized that securing justice for farmers remains their primary goal and pledged to continue advocating for their rights.
