On Thursday morning, a tree fell on the Bagdogra-Naxalbari railway line, causing significant disruption. The incident occurred in the Gurudwara area of Bagdogra amid heavy rainfall. The fallen tree broke the overhead electric wire, halting train operations temporarily.
Residents alerted the railway police, leading to a swift response from the Bagdogra police station, the Bagdogra Forest Department, and firefighters. After hours of effort, the Forest Department cleared the tree from the track, and the damaged electric wire was repaired.
The disruption affected railway services for approximately two hours, during which passenger trains were halted at Bagdogra and Naxalbari stations. Additionally, a cattle was reported dead due to the incident.
