BJP MLAs staged a protest outside the assembly on Wednesday, expressing their outrage over the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. Siliguri BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh led the demonstration by sitting in front of the assembly building and raising slogans against the state government.
The protesters, carrying placards, demanded the resignation of both the health minister and the chief minister, accusing the government of attempting to cover up the incident. Leader of the Opposition and BJP MLA from Nandigram, Suvendu Adhikari, echoed these demands, calling for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to intensify its probe.
He insisted that the CBI take Sandeep Ghosh, Dr. SP Das, and Vineet Goyal into custody for questioning. Adhikari also raised concerns about the presence of Sushant Roy and Dr. Abhik at the crime scene on August 9, suggesting that they may have been involved in destroying evidence.
