More than 3.5 crore pilgrims take holy bath during Amrit Snan at Mahakumbh
The West Bengal government has issued a stern notice to its employees, mandating that all state government offices, including those receiving Grants-in-Aid, remain open on Friday, August 16, 2024. This directive comes in response to a 12-hour bandh called by a political party on the same day.
The notice makes it clear that no casual leave or any other form of leave will be granted to employees for that day. Employees who were on leave on August 14, 2024, are required to return to duty on August 16.
Absence from work on August 16 will be treated as 'dies-non,' meaning no salary will be paid for the day unless the absence is justified by specific reasons, including hospitalization, bereavement in the family, severe illness continuing from before August 14, or pre-approved leaves such as Child Care Leave, Maternity Leave, Medical Leave, and Earned Leave.
Heads of Offices and Controlling Authorities are instructed to issue Show-Cause notices to any employees who do not report to work on August 16. Employees must explain their absence, and if a satisfactory explanation is provided along with documentary evidence, leave may be granted. Failure to respond to the Show-Cause notice may result in disciplinary action.
