Ferry ghat owner suspected of poisoning 10 monkeys with pesticide-laced bananas
In a scene reminiscent of a Bollywood action thriller, an accused attempted a daring escape from Jorabagan Police Station in Kolkata on Saturday morning. The drama unfolded when Raju Paswan, arrested the previous day, tried to make a run for it.
According to the police, Paswan was apprehended on Friday with a knife and a firearm in his possession. He was held at the police station overnight, with plans to present him in court the following morning. However, just as the police prepared for the transfer, Paswan boldly attempted to flee.
The escape bid was quickly thwarted by an alert Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) at the station. Demonstrating quick reflexes and presence of mind, the ASI lunged at Paswan, catching him mid-escape and preventing what could have been a successful getaway. The officer's timely intervention ensured that Paswan was apprehended once again, this time under even tighter security.
The police are now investigating how Paswan came into possession of the firearm and whether there were any accomplices involved in the escape attempt.
