Drunk youths crash car in New Town, attack female cop at police station
A goods train carrying fuel, including petrol and diesel, derailed at Rangapani on Friday night at approximately 22:30. This derailment is the latest in a series of train mishaps at the same location, raising concerns about safety and maintenance in the area.
The goods train, en route from Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) to Bihar, derailed when two of its tankers went off the tracks upon reaching Rangapani. The incident occurred just 15 days after another derailment at the same spot, exacerbating worries about the rail infrastructure in the region.
As soon as the derailment was reported, railway staff, workers, and Rail Police rushed to the scene to begin restoration work. Both the up and down train lines in the area were temporarily closed to facilitate the recovery process and ensure safety.
The Rangapani area has witnessed a series of unfortunate rail accidents recently. On June 17, a rear-end collision between the Kanchenjunga Express and a freight train at Rangapani tragically resulted in 10 deaths and 40 injuries. Furthermore, another goods train carrying oil derailed on July 31, adding to the growing list of accidents in this region.
